FAQ

>> How would you describe your style?

DJ Bishop is a club-style DJ with enough professionalism to make your event great. He will not "take over" your event nor will take the shine away from the guest(s) of honor. He lets the music do the talking.

>> Can we come take a quick peek at an event you’re working?

Unfortunately, no. Most events are private and it would be very unprofessional to invite a potential client to one. However, DJ Bishop would be more than happy to have a one-on-one in-person meeting with you to answer any questions, comments and/or concerns. In addition, feel free to come see him at an upcoming public event.

>> We want to book…what’s next?

All we need a signed contract and retainer fee to lock in services for your event. We’ll send you a contract which can be signed electronically. Most contracts and retainer fees are due with 7 days.

>> Do you know our reception space and its acoustic, power and amplification requirements? If not, will you check it out beforehand?

DJ Bishop is very familiar with most of the event venues in the South Jersey / Philadelphia region. If he has never been to your venue, he will do the necessary research to ensure he comes prepared with the sound and electrical requirements for your event.

>> Can you play the songs that are important to us, such as a traditional Jewish hora tune or a favorite pop hit?

Absolutely! Upon booking, you will have access to our online booking system which will allow you to create a playlist for your event. You can classify your music into Must Play, Play If Possible, and Do Not Play. Your playlist will be the foundation of the event and will be strictly adhered to.

>> How many entertainers are included in our package?

When you book DJ Bishop Entertainment, you are hiring DJ Bishop himself. If your event is larger than 250 people, DJ Bishop may bring a technician to assist. If DJ Bishop isn't available on your date, you will know immediately. You will also know who (if any) DJ Bishop plans to assign to your event in the event of a family emergency.

>> Would we need to rent any equipment (extra speakers or a stage)?

No. You will not be required to rent any equipment that the DJ brings for your event.

>> Do you plan to use lighting or any other special effects?

It depends on your package. All event enhancements will be clearly defined in your initial quote for your review.

>> Who will do the setup?

Most setups will be done by DJ Bishop himself. If your package requires multiples setups in separate rooms, DJ Bishop may bring a tech for setup and takedown purposes only. Either way, you will be made aware prior to the event who is coming representing the company.

>> How do you ensure a comfortable sound level for all the guests?

DJ Bishop will arrive early enough to your venue to do a sound check. This is how he will determines the sound levels for cocktails/dinner as well as dancing. (NOTE: In the rare case that a sound check can't be done, DJ Bishop will adjust the sound carefully during/throughout the event.)

>> What do you typically wear?

For Weddings, the attire is a full tuxedo. For Sweet 16s, School Dance, Proms, and Corporate Events, the attire is a shirt, tie, vest combo. For all other casual events, the attire will be slacks and a collared shirt. What your DJ will wear will be discussed during your initial consultation.

>> How do you handle song requests?

You will have the ability to make a custom request list for the event. You can classify your music into Must Play, Play If Possible, and Do Not Play. Your playlist will be the foundation of the event and will be strictly adhered to. If a guest requests a song that doesn't fit the mold, it will not get played.

>> How many hours are included in the package?

The amount of hours in the package will be clearly defined in the contract. If you want to go "overtime", that rate will be defined as well. (NOTE: The DJ will go "overtime" ONLY if the venue has agreed to it. Please coordinate with your venue beforehand.)

>> Can you act as the master of ceremonies?

Yes. DJ Bishop will be able to perform the reception intros and will have the ability to make announcements (if necessary).

On average, DJ Bishop does about 20-30 weddings a year. Every wedding is treated differently and will be customized to your needs. Feel free to read some featured reviews from past weddings on Wedding Wire.

>> Do you have another wedding gig before or after ours?

No. DJ Bishop understands that a wedding day is very important to you. He will not book more that one wedding in a single day.

>> What’s your sick-day policy?

In the rare case that DJ Bishop is sick, a suitable DJ will be assigned to your event. You will receive ample notice of such a replacement as soon as possible.

Yes. Never hire a DJ who can't provide proof of insurance. Most venues will require a DJ carries some sort of liability insurance. If your venue needs to see proof of insurance, we can send it over.

>> What’s your backup plan if there’s an equipment malfunction?

DJ Bishop always bring "backup for his backup"...his primary setup is very solid, but he's prepared for "Murphy's Law" incase of an equipment malfunction by having backup equipment on site.

>> What’s your cancellation policy?

If you decide to cancel the event, the retainer fee is non-refundable. However, if you do decide to reschedule your event, any monies collected toward the event will be applied to the new date. This will be clearly defined in the contract.

>> How do you motivate a shy crowd to dance?

DJ Bishop can be as interactive or as laid back as you need him to be. You know your crowd better than he'll ever know. Sometimes, all DJ Bishop needs to do is to let the music do the talking with minimal mic work...other times, he may get out there and dance with your crowd for a second. When you sit down with DJ Bishop, you can discuss this further.
